Union Coop and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology Launch Strategic Partnership to Support National Products

Dubai, UAE:May 13, 2025

Retail Pioneer’Union Coop’ has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology as part of the “Make it in the Emirates” national campaign. This initiative aims to support and enhance the visibility of locally manufactured products across retail outlets nationwide.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and H.E.Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop. The agreement was formally signed by H.E. Omar Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, Chief Executive Officer of Union Coop.

This partnership represents a significant step toward strengthening the presence and competitiveness of UAE-made products. Under the agreement, Union Coop will provide a comprehensive package of incentives to participating manufacturers. These include prominent display spaces and dedicated shelves for Emirati products across Union Coop branches, exemption from promotional fees during the campaign period, support for training programs, and free digital advertising across Union Coop’s platforms.

 

In addition, new manufacturers will benefit from exclusive privileges such as free setup of online stores, up to three months of exemption from warehousing and logistics fees, assistance with product registration, and promotional support via social media channels.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, stated:
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to bolstering the national economy and empowering the local industrial sector. Every dirham spent on national products is a direct investment in the country’s economic future. Union Coop remains dedicated to enhancing the competitiveness of UAE-made products through its commercial and digital platforms.”

The promotional campaign will run throughout the month of May, aligning with the upcoming fourth edition of the “Make it in the Emirates” Forum, scheduled to take place from May 19 to 22, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The forum will bring together leading manufacturers, investors, and strategic partners from both public and private sectors.
